DCTF's tournament to find the best mascot in Texas high school football rolls on.

 By TexasFootball.com

Through the first two rounds of Dave Campbell's Texas Football's Mascot Madness Tournament, we've learned a couple of things:

1) People love mascots -- we've had more than 30,000 votes cast so far.
2) This is going to be really, really close.

The Dave Campbell's Texas Football Mascot Madness Tournament just finished the second round, so we're down to our final eight mascots. You can see the results in the bracket (which you can see here), but here's what happened:

Hutto Hippos def. Trent Gorillas, 56% to 44%
Fredericksburg Battlin' Billies def. Rotan Yellowhammers, 68% to 32%
Winters Blizzards def. Texas City Stingarees, 77% to 23%
Mesquite Skeeters def. Cuero Gobblers, 59% to 41%
Mason Punchers def. Port Lavaca Calhoun Sand Crabs, 58% to 42%
Cameron Yoe Yoemen def. Rocksprings Angoras, 66% to 34%
Roscoe Plowboys def. Itasca Wampus Cats, 56% to 44%
Hamlin Pied Pipers def. New Braunfels Unicorns, 63% to 37%

It's remarkable to see some of the mascots that have already been eliminated. Think about it: the Gorillas, Gobblers, Wampus Cats and Unicorns...didn't make the final eight! Tells you that people have really passionate feelings about mascots!

Due to technical issues, we've had to change the voting schedule. Voting will be open through Tuesday!

Today: Round of 8
May 21: Final Four
May 23: Winner announced

Without further ado, let's continue voting. You can vote below on the four third-round matchups in the DCTF Mascot Madness Tournament.

May the best mascot win!
